Welcome to Single Pixel Planet!
Welcome to Single Pixel Planet! I am your proprietor, Kevin S. Burke, a really tall, pretty dorky guy with academic ambitions and working class roots. While I intend this blog to be a repository for writing projects, research ideas and notes, reactions to news items, and sundry other items, I will also try to entertain.
Most of my writing will focus on international relations and political theory, but I’m also interested in religion, US politics, science and science policy, and a variety of other subjects, so if you pay attention to the news, you might just enjoy this blog. I wrote up a kind of mission statement that will help you get a feel for the tenor of the project.
I’ll try to post at least once a week. Given my attempt to re-apply to graduate schools, and hopefully the success of that attempt, I might not be able to keep to that schedule every week.
A note on comments: in my experience commenting sections are the hive of scum and villainy in the galaxy. However, I find the exception to that experience to be where I have interacted with peers, whether friends or colleagues, or on blogs that are of a more academic or intellectual nature (there are angry nerds, too, though). It probably won’t be an issue here. But I reserve the right to delete any comment at any time, for any reason or no reason, or to disable comments on any post or all posts. Play nice.
